Golden Blood was a love letter to animorphs, a mid-nineties book series that was given a tv show. The premise was fairly simple, 5 individuals, 4 humans and 1 alien gain the ability to transform into any animal they touch, you can learn more about books and tv series here.
Whilst that was the basis for inspiration, it was by no means solitary. I became quite the avid watcher of anime and player of games and along the way encountered such favourites as Dragon Ball and Bloody Roar, which only further cemented my ambition to turn my little drawings into a full-fledged concept.
Golden Blood was a 3 saga / arch story centered around several generations of people with the ability to transform into animals, who defend the Earth from such threats as Alokid, Gassoon and Xylofore, all of which would inspire enemy ideas for later works.
If I have any regrets, one would be that I didn’t summon the confidence to start drawing the comic panels and turn it into a thing. Even if it hadn’t materialised into something significant, I could have possibly led to other drawing and art related opportunities and my career path might be quite different.
The Sensko family take centre stage in much the same way that Son Goku and his family do in Dragon Ball, making friends along the way, turning former enemies into allies and taking on greater foes together. Ashen and Rabella were the two main characters, with sagas taking place both before and after their story.
Golden Blood was more than just a cool idea for me, it has had such a significant impact on my entire being, that it’s safe to say that it led to the very person I am today, my confidence, my creativity, my ambitions, my political beliefs, my strengths and my joys, all of which I’ll certainly expand upon throughout my site. Of course I enjoyed drawing and writing before Golden Blood, but Golden Blood is ground zero for everything that came thereafter.
